Hereford Guided Walks – Join the Hereford Guild of Guides to see Hereford’s interesting and historic buildings and other structures, and hear about the history of the city and the famous people connected to Hereford. Daily walks resume on Friday 29th March 2024 and continue through to 31st October 2024. However, to avoid any disappointment, it is recommended that you check their website www.herefordguidedwalks before your visit to confirm Daily Walks are taking place. Start time is 11.30 am except on Sundays when it is 2.30 pm. The walks will commence outside the North Porch (Main Entrance) of the Cathedral. Tickets will need to be purchased from the Cathedral shop before joining the walk (but on Sundays from the guide, not the shop. Cash only, as the Guide cannot accept card payments.) Walk Length 4.38 miles (2 hours).
A friend and I recently embarked on a walk outside of our usual stomping grounds. With the promise of a delightful lunch atGwatkin’s Red Cow restaurant, we climbed the steep hill and were rewarded with breath-taking views at the summit across to the Black Mountains. As we descended through lush woodlands, we savoured the scenery and paused for a well-deserved cuppa on a charming bridge overlooking gurgling waters.
Our journey continued along a winding path beside the sparklingRiver Dore, where we were greeted by adorable new-born lambs. Our adventure culminated at the beautiful Moorhampton Court Farm and The Red Cow restaurant, Alas, we couldn’t indulge in the restaurant’s tempting selection of locally-produced ciders and perrys’ from Gwatkin’s own cider mill, as we were both driving. However, we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The Red Cow at Abbey Dore is simply a must-visit spot, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere and delicious local food that will tantalize your taste buds.
Hereford Canoe Hire: – Just imagine drifting down the river with the prospect of a pub lunch along the way, enjoying some of the country’s best countryside, perfect. Booking advisable.
Embark on a beautiful walk through the stunning countryside with your friends and furry companion, just as we did with Seb, our beloved dog, towards the end of September. Despite the ever-changing weather, we couldn’t resist the picturesque views of the area. The paths are well-maintained and marked, guiding you through peaceful pastureland and scenic woodlands. Although it’s worth noting that the views would be even more breathtaking once the leaves fall. After a few gradual uphill sections, we rewarded ourselves with a refreshing drink and scrumptious lunch at The Green Man, basking in the warm sunshine.
I did this walk with a friend at the beginning of the year on a beautiful sunny spring morning, ‘spectacular‘ is such a simple word to describe the breathtaking views. Easy to follow directions and everything well marked. Gradual climbs to the ridges of Monument and Common Hill, passing through two nature reserves then returning back to the village. We took a picnic with us but we could have easily enjoyed a drink and/or lunch in either The New Inn or The Green Man
With the Covid lockdown rules having ended, we are still very aware that Covid hasn’t gone away, so as a precaution and for the safety of our guests and ourselves we are still adhering to many of the previous Government Guidelines for the hospitality sector. We are still not taking deposits and ask all guests to complete our online Registration Form using a link which will be emailed when a reservation is made – a completed reservation form secures your booking.

Unfortunately, as we have now been placed in tier 3, we are closed again, and only remain open to those guests who qualify to the criteria to stay. Due to the latest Government Covid-19 Guidelines for the hospitality sector, we would appreciate it if guests would now wear a face covering in all indoor public areas unless you have a health concern or are seated – thank you.
Guests to complete an online registration form, prior to their stay with us (a link will be emailed).
Use the hand sanitiser provided before being shown to their room, unfortunately we will be unable to carry any luggage.
Pre-order breakfast the night before as all food will be served to your table.
Extra items such as information folders, blankets etc have been moved from bedrooms, but are available upon request, duly sanitised and guests are encouraged to ask for anything they want.
We have carried out a Covid-19 Risk Assessment and regularly update it, to comply with the Government Guidelines.
Any guests staying at Sink Green Farm who suffer covid-19 symptoms must notify us from their room either by text or phone. We will then follow government guidelines regarding their treatment and/or isolation.
Any guest who suffers from Covid-19 within 14 days of leaving Sink Green Farm should advise us immediately on diagnosis so that we can take the necessary precautions to protect others.

David & Sue are looking forward to welcoming guests back again into Sink Green Farm B & B, and would like to assure all our guests that we have put into place good practice of cleaning and disinfecting as per the government guidelines. We have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure we are ready for a safe reopening for both ourselves and guests. Having carried out a full risk assessment throughout our farmhouse we have adjusted some of our operating processes to ensure we follow all government guidelines. This will inevitably affect some of the services and personal interactions we have had with our guests previously, but we must put the welfare and safety of us all first.
We will be asking all new guests to fill in a ‘Registration Form’ online before arrival, and where possible to arrange to pay by BACS on day of departure.
We will be asking everyone, either by signage or verbally to observe the 1m plus social distancing and the washing of hands. To use the sanitizing gel and wipes provided when necessary.
In the unlikely event guests have contracted Covid-19 before/during their stay, they MUST return to their main residence immediately and not self-isolate here. For this reason, they will be advised to keep their car fuelled up to avoid any stops. We hope guests will continue to enjoy their stays with us in these difficult times.
Following the recent government enforcement of closure for certain hospitality providers, we have reconsidered our own position and have sadly reached the decision in order to help prevent the rapid spread of Coronavirus, Sink Green Farm B & Bwill be closed to guests until further notice. This will take effect from tonight, Monday 23rd March.
We are following the advice coming from government closely but must consider the health of our staff, local residents and of course the massive extra burden on our local NHS should guests become ill whilst staying. The extra demand on our local food shops that are struggling daily to maintain levels of food stocks for our local community also fairs in our decision.
Many local attractions have also closed their doors until further notice and a number of the fantastic places that we are normally able to advise our guests to visit are understandably not welcoming tourists just at the present time.
If you already have accommodation booked with us in the next few months, we suggest you make contact with us in order that we may discuss a path forwards that is acceptable to both, you and us.
Once the government advice is such and we are confident that the virus threat is no longer with us, we will be opening for bookings again. Sink Green Farm B & B is a fantastic place to visit with plenty of fresh countryside air and lots of things to see and do – both Herefordshire and rural tourism in general, will need your support when we are able to resume our normal daily lives.
